Well, I'm finally getting to put all those wonderful tools in the garage to some use. Tom and I have been working on building some shelves for his wife's kindergarten classroom. This was the prototype that we had put together. After seeing just this unfinished set, she wants 4 more! And I got to buy more tools! I went and bought a guide that clamps to the workpiece to make cutting/routing a straight line much easier. This first set that we built turned out to be a few inches too tall.
I've really enjoyed working with Tom in the garage. It actually gets me doing something constructive. There are additional benefits too. I get the scrap wood, which may not be good for much but I can practice techniques on it. Cutting dovetails, staining etc. Then there is the favors that I get to call in later. I bought some cabinet grade plywood and a piece of pegboard for making a tool cabinet to hang on the wall and the pegboard is for hanging tools on the wall. Tom has already pledged to help with these two projects.
We're hoping that the other teachers in Val's school see these and want us to make more. Then with the little bit of money I can make I get to buy MORE TOOLS!
Yet another reason to move to Kentucky....family members that built bookcases! Woo Hoo! =)
